Luc Deneys’ instruments are truly unique. He doesn’t follow specific series but constantly experiments with form and sound so that each newly created instrument is an individual piece of art. He has been making violins, violas and cellos on his own for more than 40 years.
Since 1986, his atelier is based in Ghent. This workshop dates back to 1874 and is the oldest music shop in Belgium. He is continuously experimenting to create a bigger sound which is why his new instruments have extra large projection.
Deneys has developed a new technique to enhance sound projection which involves the creation of a soundline near the soundpost. The blades are then cut along this line. Many artists have given very positive feedback about this technique including Michael Kugel, Jenny Spanoghe, Jan Repko, Joshua Bell and others.
